Due to the packaging and shipping process, case necks are often slightly dinged or bent and need to be rounded up and sized to give proper neck tension. New and/or fired cases must be full-length resized or have the expander ball of the sizing die run through the case neck prior to loading.

Really?

By Chris A. on May 16, 2020
Thought I would give it a try because I had seen so many good reviews and because it would help me keep some case lots separate. Hesitated because it was so much more expensive than Starline, my preferred brass.
Trying to work up a new load and three of the first 24 got stuck in the shell holder. The groove over the lip was way oversize.
I work in manufacturing and it was pretty obvious what happened. The finish was horrible on those grooves, so the tool likely broke and bad cases made it into the bag. It can happen, but not an encouraging start.
Oh well. Maybe I can make keychains out of them.

45 Colt Brass

I have used this brass before and find it consistent and great to work with. I load Hornady bullets in various weights and never a problem.

Good price, great brass!

I've been reloading exclusively with Winchester brass for 10 years. As a Cowboy Action Shooter who shoots black powder, I needed a brass which would easily expand and seal the chamber to reduce blowback. Winchester 45 colt has the thinnest neck wall thickness of any brass I've tried and couples with annealing seals the chambers well. Without using this brass I can get off maybe a half dozen shots in a string before I feel the lever on my rifle begin to bind up. Using annealed Winchester brass my receiver stays almost as clean as using smokeless and I can go a couple of shooting seasons without the need to disassemble and clean the rifle...and this is with full load 45 colt black powder cartridges. Over the 10 year period I've reloaded this brass over and over, only buying new to replace any lost brass from matches and over that decade I've had maybe 4 or 5 cases split, all in my revolvers, so the brass is reliable.

45 Colt Brass - Winchester

This is my choice for 45 Colt brass. It is the most consistent and durable of the many other brands I have tried. Will buy again!
