Excellent for Removable Scope Use

By Leon G. on Jul 15, 2019
Although I favor the Burris Signature rings, I have need for detachable scopes since my rifle rack lacks clearance for a scoped rifle.

I have found the Burris XTR Tact rings very satisfactory as ersatz QD mounts. I carry a 1/2" box-end wrench in my range bag to tighten the base nut. Zero retention is very good; just remember when first attaching the scope, and for all successive scope mountings, to push the rings forward to the stops before tightening the base clamp nut.

Since the XTR Tact rings have 6 cap screws, I find it more than useful to use a torque driver. This ensures that the ring compression on the scope is even. On one occasion when I had to remove the XTR Tact ring from a scope, I noted that the scope was not marked where in contact with the rings.
