Product Information

Berry's Preferred Plated bullets begin as a swaged lead core. The swaged lead cores are tumbled in an electrically charged bath containing high-grade copper ingots. The copper clings to the lead and the longer the bullets remain in the bath, the thicker the plating.  The bullets are plated to the correct size and then taken out of the bath. Plated bullets are not as expensive as jacketed bullets.  They are cleaner than lead but you'll want to stay away from magnum velocities when loading plated bullets.  This is not loaded ammunition.

Lead remover not needed

By Walter J. on Aug 15, 2022
I bought a box of these bullets as an alternative to cast bullets and the lead fouling issues. I use CFE Pistol powder at lower velocities in My Taurus and Uberti revolvers. After shooting, cleaning is easy and my bores show little or no signs of fouling. These bullets are a great value and I intend to buy more.

A Great Buy Bullet

By John K. on Aug 05, 2020
I have been reloading and shooting 45 acp for a number of years in Bullseye competition using 250 grain lead semi-wad cutters and 700-X powder. Recently, I purchased a Ruger Blackhawk so I could try shooting 45 colt. I'd used some cowboy action rounds before in my Taurus Judge and they were fund to shoot. However, I wanted a gun with better accuracy. I've been experimenting with various cast loads and powders that I still had on hand and wanted to try some plated as well as jacketed bullets to see how they performed. In searching the internet, I found these and they looked like they'd fit the bill for some experimenting. The price was definitely right and I wasn't disappointed. While they didn't make target grade for performance, at least not just yet, they were great for plinking and casual shooting. However, I haven't given up on the experiment and still have a number of various powders, loads and tricks to try.

Great plinker in a .450 Bushmaster!

So these are rated at 1250 fps due to the thin jacket which is okay. I purchased these to load light for my wife, I loaded these up with trailboss powder and got my wife to shoot about 50 shots to get used to the rifle and build her confidence and save money from not having to shoot the more expensive Ftx bullets. It did the trick she shoots the full power loads now so I saved a chunk of change not wasting my expensive bullets. Accuracy is satisfactory for what they are and I ordered more because they are fun to shoot at a low velocity out of my Ranch rifle.
