Product Information

The Berger VLD Target Bullet is one of the flattest shooting bullets on the market today. Emulated by all others, the VLD Target bullet incoporates a secant ogive design which allows the bullet to experience less drag as it travels to the target. This reduced drag is why the VLD shoots flatter, experiences less wind-drift, and has a higher retained velocity than all others. A favorite load technique for the VLD’s is touching the rifling for single-shot applications, although some rifles may prefer as much as .150″ from the rifling. Berger VLD Target Bullets are extremely popular for competitive long range applications. Built with highly consistent J4 Precision Bullet jacket, most favored by custom bullet makers.

Berger bullets are very consistent and shoot excellent in my AR or bolt guns. I have tried these in my 22 Creedmoor and had some problems with these bullets coming apart around 3200 to 3300 FPS. They shoot excellent around 2800 FPS.

I have recently switched to the Berger 0.224 80 grain HPBT VLD-TGT bullets for reloading high precision cartridges in my 20” AR15 1 in 7 twist hbar rifle. The bullet manufacturing and ballistic consistency is second to none. I was also pleasantly surprised with my very first reloads producing significant sub MOA groups at 100 yards without any tuning and using xx.x grains of Hodgdon Varget powder.

Great bullet. With xxgr of CFE223 in my 223 Remington 700 Varmint it is a sub-0.5moa at 300yd. Excellent bullet.
