Modern Lyman

A dealer in pre-owned Lyman and Ideal bullet molds mentioned to me that he thought the old ones were better. I have mostly older Lymans and Ideal molds in addition to others of steel, brass, and aluminum. I must admit that I prefer the old Lymans too and I cannot say why. Is it the dot-matrix engraved vs. stamped markings? The general appearance of quality? The large flat of the sprue cut? Can't put my finger on it (Wear Gloves!). Considering the price differential I would have preferred a cheaper aluminum mold (Or two), but you are not going to find one this size. You're not likely to find an older steel one in this size either. All in all I am happy to have this mold, especially at Graf's price. I just hope my rifle (A 14-bore double) likes it, otherwise it's yet another extravagant experiment. That being said, you can't have too many round ball molds.
