Due to the packaging and shipping process, case necks are often slightly dinged or bent and need to be rounded up and sized to give proper neck tension. New and/or fired cases must be full-length resized or have the expander ball of the sizing die run through the case neck prior to loading.

Quality cartridge brass

By Jonathan S. on Feb 01, 2019
I received a bag of 20 cartridges. One was unusable having a crush neck and shoulder. The variance in weight and dimensions of this brass is alarming. There is more consistency in military brass. I will only use this brass if I hunt out of the country and need to make sure the head stamp matches my rifle barrel. I will continue to make my own brass from military 30-06 cases which will give me greater control over my loads.

Quality Cartridge Brass 6.5'06 Item#QC977063

I buy hundreds of pieces of brass for at least 5 different calibers each year. I almost always limit my purchases of cases to two well known brands with one of the two preferred over the other. Well the wildcat 6.5'06 was not made by either of my usual go to brands. After a long search I found the referenced so called "Quality Cartridge Brass." Though very pricey at about $2.00 per case with shipping, I have never minded paying premium price for premium brass. So I paid about $80.00 for 40 pcs. of this brass. And boy was I disappointed! Preliminary prep., which included weighing each piece of brass was shocking. After necessary neck sizing and checking for neck run-out, it was clear that any further prep. and loading would be a waste of my time and expensive bullets, powder and primers. For long range shooting, typically, neck run-out greater than 0.002" is unacceptable and less is preferred. With run-out running on average 0.004"-0.005" and lack of volume consistency secondary to vast weight spread, sub 0.50 MOA accuracy would have been impossible with any acceptable degree of consistency. It was so bad, I doubt MOA accuracy was even achievable. The foregoing said, I do not feel the disparity between the quality and price of this brass is necessarily a reflection on Grafs. My experience with Grafs and the products they offer has been exemplary. I will say, however, for the present, I will continue making my own brass for the 6.5'06 from 270 Win. and 25'06 Rem. made by Norma. And never again will I purchase or use any brass known to be "Quality Cartridge Brass," at least not until cows fly and mice bark!
