Powder consistancy

By George L. on Dec 16, 2018
Bought this "shotgun powder" to load 9 M/M's. Cheap and I used a lot of other shotgun powders for 9's before. At first I loaded only 12 rounds and took them to the range to Identify a "good load". With this info I came home and started loading 250 rounds for my nest trip to the range. What I discovered is that the powder is very inconsistent in size from granular to granular. It looks a lot like "gray sand" and varies in size from very small "bits" to larger size pieces that have a tendency to separate while in the container causing sufficient weight differences from load to load. I would strongly recommend weighing each load separately and NOT using this powder in a progressive press. (You will note in the Graf information that they compare this powder to Winchester AutoComp).
