221 fireball redding form die #1

Used this die as a first step for forming 221 fireball brass from some once fired 14LC 5.56 brass. Used with imperial sizing lube and it took very little effort with the press to set the initial start of the new shoulder and to start the reduction of neck size. If cases have any dents where they will be sized down they will tend to fold in and will become not usable. The form and trim die is next and finishes the neck reduction and makes for a mostly formed 221 fireball case with an extremely long neck. You will have to use the extended shell holder with the form trim die. Once the excess length is trimmed off a pass through a full length sizing die and a final trim for length makes for brass that fits correctly in the case gauge.

Using this die and the #2 forming and trim die makes short work in making 221FB brass.

Great forming die

I used this die along with the #2 Redding forming die to form 199 of the 221 Rem Fireball cases in preparation for making 20 Vartarg cases. It incredibly easy and fast. The cases turned out perfect and I didn't mess up a single one. I started with 200 LC 04 cases and ended up with 199 20 Vartarg cases. The one that didn't make it had been severely dented in the body when it had been ejected from whatever fired it initially I just threw it away.
Redding .221 Form Die - The First Step

All Redding products are exceptional. This die is the first step. #2 is the form and trim die. Cut off the neck with a hacksaw and file flush (I use an old double-cut mill bastard), chamfer. #3 FL size, trim to length, chamfer.
Turn necks, uniform flash-holes and primer pockets.
Imperial sizing die wax, of course.
GREAT TRANSACTION.

The 221 Remington cases (or ammo) are hard if not impossible to find. Being able to convert 223 brass is the only viable solution. Redding makes the very best dies. Grafs is the most viable source of anything reloading. I am really glad to have discovered Grafs. The ship fast and are great communicating order status.

For converting 223 brass to 221, this is a must. Makes the converting so much easier
221 Rem from 222 or 223 form die #1

Because of the severe shortage of .221 Fireball brass, I started forming my own from LC .223 brass.
This Redding die did not let me down!! Like all the Redding reloading equipment I have used over the years, this #1 Form die worked like a charm. Using Imperial Sizing lube, the task of forming hundreds of cases went smooth as silk!
It's a Must Have for forming .221!
