Reloading Presses
Three primary types of presses are available to a reloader, the single stage press, turret press and progressive reloading press. A Hornady Lock-N-Load and a RCBS Rockchucker are examples of single stage presses. These presses perform one part of the reloading sequence at a time. A turret press looks like a single stage press, except that a turret press can hold multiple reloading dies and then the turret is turned so the next die in the reloading sequence is above the press ram (the part that moves the cartridge into the die). A progressive reloading press, like a Lee Pro 1000, Hornady Lock-N-Load Auto Progressive or a Dillon press, not only holds all the dies needed but also moves the cartridge to the next die, so multiple tasks are completed at the same time.
