BARNES 22(.224) 70gr BULLET TAC-TX BT 50/bx

The TAC-TX bullet is a special purpose expanding all-copper bullet that is optimized around AR platforms. AR's feature shorter carbine length barrels which reduce the muzzle velocity when compared to a standard barrel length. To achieve the same terminal performance that Barnes fans are used to, they added a larger tip to allow more fluid to enter the nose and modified the bullet cavity to maximize expansion at lower velocities. These bullets track straighter through barriers and have better weight retention than lead-core bullets.

New for 2026-The .224" 22 CAL 70gr TAC-TX BT was designed and optimized around the 22 ARC and its velocity range. The cannelure is correctly positioned so you can crimp into it. Being a sleek 70gr copper projectile, you need a 1:7 twist rate or faster to stabilize it. The 22 Creedmoor is another great application for this bullet, however, make sure you have a fast enough twist rate. The SAAMI standard for a 22 Creedmoor is slower- 1:8 twist.

The nose length is .702 which makes it too long to mag feed a 223 Rem or similar cartridge.
