Product Information

The 6.5mm/.264 inch bore has recently enjoyed a resurgence of interest. Several rifle manufacturers currently produce 6.5x55mm sporters, exposing a new generation of shooters to this famous old Scandinavian service and hunting cartridge. Competitive HighPower and Silhouette shooters have also shown great interest in the 6.5mm bore size.

The 140 grain #1740 bullet is a superb competitor for ranges out to 1000 yards, in medium- and high-capacity 6.5mm cartridges.

While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications.  Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts.

Sierra 6.5 Match King Bullets.

Sierra bullets have alway been trusted and reliable hunting bullets. I was looking for a high quality, reliable bullet to shoot out of my 6.5 PRC when shooting long distance for fun. The Match King bullet is just the ticket. High quality, reasonably priced, and sub-MOA capable.

Great in a 6.5 Creedmoor that has been very difficult to tune.

Other major brand bullets only managed ~1 MOA in a variety of powder charges and seating depths, but the 140 grain Sierra MatchKings work well in it and are quite jump tolerant. I did a 100 yard seating depth test at .050, .025, .015, and .010 from the lands. It definitely likes the .015 jump (5 shot .316 MOA group), but the .025 and .050 jump groups were also pretty good at .730 and .696 MOA. It only really opened back up at .010 jump.

For 200 yards with the same load, but seated even farther back at .064 off the lands I managed a .598 MOA 5 shot group (4 were .392 MOA). I didn't have any paper out past 200 and the small steels at my range were down, but I could hit the 2 MOA steels using just the reticle out to 500 as fast as I could run the bolt. I will definitely be ordering more of these. :)

As long as you are only hunting paper targets, these sierra MKs will not let you down. There's a reason they are hard to find.

Most accurate 6.5 bullet out of my Swedish Mauser

I been using Sierra Matchking with my Swedish Mauser for a long long time. 140 grain HPBT bullet and Reloader-19 is just about right for duplicating Swedish military loading. I found this bullet weight works well in my M96, M38 and M94 Swedish Mauser. Without a built-in crimping groove, I can seat this bullet to whichever depth best suited for my individual Mauser.
