Berry's Preferred Plated bullets begin as a swaged lead core. The swaged lead cores are tumbled in an electrically charged bath containing high-grade copper ingots. The copper clings to the lead and the longer the bullets remain in the bath, the thicker the plating. The bullets are plated to the correct size and then taken out of the bath. Plated bullets are not as expensive as jacketed bullets. They are cleaner than lead but you'll want to stay away from magnum velocities when loading plated bullets. This is not loaded ammunition.

Berry .45 cal 200 Gr HP Bullets 500/bx

Second time I ordered these bullets. First was fewer and they performed well, so I ordered 500 more! They load easily and are accurate from all of my 1911s. Price is very attractive for a target shooter of 45 cal. who consumes large quantities of 45 ACP.
200 gr berry's plated 45cal hollow point

This bullet is accurate in both my 1911s. One is a Kimber and the other is a Springfield. When this bullet is crimped on the shoulder of the ogive like it has to be when used in a chamber with no lead like the 45 acp chambers are cut, it makes for a short nose on the cartridge. The problem I have with that scenario is the cartridge doesn't feed as well as the longer nosed bullets do.
I bought them because of the hollow point, and they're a bit less expensive than the berry's hybrid hollow points, but they don't expand well at 45acp velocities like the hybrid hollow points do. My favorite targets are milk jugs full of water, which a hybrid 185gr berry's hollow point will blow to smithereens. This regular hollow point has a smaller hole and takes a velocity higher than a 45acp is capable of to fully open up, so they would be better in a colt at higher velocity if you like blowing up milk jugs.
