Great for plinking

A family member of mine just passed and left me a Ruger P94 chambered in 40 S&W.
I'm an avid shooter and reloader, though mostly do benchrest. Pistol is outside my usual realm of shooting. Still, I ordered some dies and started looking for components.
I knew that pistol shooting (and reloading) is largely about volume, and I trust in the Speer brand, so I ordered these to start with for my pistol-reloading journey.
They work good! I've tried a number of off-the-shelf ammo brands and seem to hit a wall of getting 5" groups at 15 yards. That's okay. I have only done a load workup with one type of powder, so far, but I've been able to handedly shrink my group sizes by half! It can only get better as I expand on my load development.
The one downside is that, being copper-plated, you have to be extra mindful while crimping, especially if you are going to crimp while seating in one operation - you'll likely put a mark on the bullet with a thin ring on the ogive, from the seating stem, and, if seating too hard, risk denting or deforming the bullet.

Inexpensive and accurate

When I discovered the Speer copper plated bullets I was excited to reload and shoot them. Unlike other plated bullets the Speer plated bullets have a diameter of .400 vice .401. I find that these .400 diameter plated bullets reload in almost any range brass I have. That is not the case with the .401 diameter plated or lead cast bullets. Case wall diameters vary and can effect the seating and crimping. I’ve fired the .400 bullets in my HK P2000 SK LEM and they are extremely accurate. For those who heed the warning about not firing lead bullets in polygonal barrels, these copper plated bullets solve that problem. I haven’t found any downside to these bullets. The price of these bullets is as inexpensive as lead cast bullets or coated lead cast bullets without the reloading hassle, lube, or smoke from the lube. They are inexpensive, easy to reload, and accurate. With Grafs one price for shipping you can’t get a better deal.

I like to load these for my 10mm Glock and 1911. They load easy and are very accurate.
