Shooters around the world will appreciate the accuracy and extreme long range performance of our new 6.5mm 150 grain HPBT (#1755). A sleek 27 caliber elongated ogive and a final meplat reducing operation (pointing) provide an increased ballistic coefficient for optimal wind resistance and velocity retention. To ensure precise bullet to bore alignment, a unique bearing surface to ogive junction uses the same 1.5 degree angle commonly found in many match rifle chamber throats.

While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications. Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts.

This bullet requires a barrel TWIST rate of 7.5” or Faster.

Failure

Just tried my first loads at the range this week with these in my custom built model 70 Winchester chambered in 26 Nosler, I thought this would be the perfect long range bullet for this gun but all I got was total failure. It seems once you push them over 3100 fps they start coming apart, my barrel is a Pac-Nor 30" 1 in 7" twist heavy contour with a starting load of XXg Hodgdon US-869 and this bullet just can't handle it so I assume Sierra designed them for smaller cartridges with a max velocity of about 2900 or so. I have a CZ chambered in 6.5/270 Winchester with a 1-8" twist barrel that I will try some test loads in, Sierra recommends a 1- 71/2" twist but just maybe it'll push them fast enough to stabilize them.
Note: when I checked my targets all I could see was some small holes punched thru by shrapnel pieces and some dust stuck on the surface that looked like melted lead.
I would not recommend these for any of the large capacity magnum cartridges.

For how heavy these are these bullets perform! Push em in front of xx grains of superformance and they fly at just over 2800 fps. Making it barley with a 1:8" with a 1 to 7.5" in my future.
