Introduced in early 1895 for the Winchester Model 1894 lever-action rifle, the .30-30 was the USA's first small-bore, sporting rifle cartridge designed for smokeless powder. Jacketed bullets for the .30-30 are .308 inches in nominal diameter. Cast lead bullets for the .30-30 are also popular and usually are .309 inches in diameter.
The .30-30 is considered to be the "entry-class" for modern big-game hunting cartridges. While it is very effective on deer-sized and black bear-sized game, most commercial loadings are limited in effective range to about 200 yd for that purpose, except when using ballistic-tip ammunition. The cartridge is typically loaded with bullets weighing between 150 and 170 grains but lighter loads are possible. Bullets of up to 180 gr can be used, but the overall length restrictions of the lever-action rifles most commonly chambered for this round limit their usefulness.

I have loaded this for 30-30, formed cases for .219 Wasp and recently for 32 Winchester Special (head re-stamped to 32-30). In every case Starline brass is exceptional.

Great brass for all your 30-30 loads. This brass is very easy to convert to a 32-40 if being a little short will not be a problem. Starline makes the best brass on the market, and Graf & Sons have more in stock than others. They are the first place I look

After purchasing several different calibers of brass for reloading, I’ll have to say Starline is the most consistent in all categories. I’ve used it for years and very pleased with the results. From my experience it seems to hold up better after several reloads. Can’t go wrong with Starline brass!

I've used at least a half-dozen different calibers of Starline brass (45-70, 223, 30-30, 30-06, etc.) and been very happy with all of them. Seem to last a long time and consistent performance. Highly recommended.

I have used Starline pistol brass in the past and this rifle brass is every bit as good as their pistol brass. It is consistent and well within specs.
