.30 CALIBER/7.62MM 169 GR. HPBT MATCH

This bullet was designed with one thing in mind, and that was to shoot 1000 yards in a 308 Winchester. To accomplish that, Sierra Bullets added length to the boattail and engineered a forgiving tangent ogive with a closed nose. Doing this gave it a .527 BC which keeps it super sonic past 1000 yards in a 308 chamber. This bullet is basically a redesign of the legendary 168MK which Sierra will continue to manufacture. Anyone that enjoys shooting medium to long range with a 308 or even the big magnums will love this bullet.

Sierra 169 SMK - Super Fabulous in .308

I have a box .308 Savage High Country I bought for ringing steel, & affordable long range practice. For hunting I use a Custom 6.5 & 7 PRC. I have loaded for years & used Hornaday 168 BTHP, Sierra 168 SMK, & 175 SMK in this rifle. They all shoot ok, mostly less than 1” but not super great. I tried the Sierra 169 SMK shot a 1/4” group behind Varget xx.x grains. I duplicated load shot 3 more groups 1/4”-1/2” on all so very happy with a box gun shooting with the Sierra 169 SMK. Shot it 519 yards 2 1/2” group so this will be the bullet I use in this rifle for long range practice & ringing steel.
