Profile crimp dies provide a tighter, more uniform roll type crimp, and requires the bullet to be seated to the correct depth in a previous operation. These dies are not for cartridges that headspace on the case mouth.

My Preferred Roll Crimp Die

Redding dies are not the least expensive. However, the profile crimp die does the best roll crimp IMO. The contact surface with the case mouth is nicely polished - not the case with at least 1 competitor. In addition, the roll crimp seems more gradual and a bit more forgiving of variances in case length. I have tried crimp dies from Hornady and Lee (maybe more?) and have decided on the Redding Profile Crimp Die.
