Winchester 125 gr JHP

Have used this Winchester product for many years for my .357 Security Six, an old High Standard .357 and more recently a 686-P. Loaded to velocities of 1000 to 1150 (same load but depending on barrel length - my Security Six is a 2 3/4" barrel) this has provided very good accuracy in all three of the above revolvers. I notice that the jacket scoring at the hollow point has changed over the years, and as I have not experimented with gelatin penetration I can't say if this affects bullet upset or not.
Greg Y's comment regarding having the proper seating plug is well taken, as the tips are soft and easily deformed if the plug doesn't match the shape of the bullet.

winchester 125 grain soft tip jhp

I purchased 200 of these to use for self defense loads for my daughters and myself. Looking at lucky gunners website on different calibers gel ballistics show the 125 grain, 357 magnum load to be excellent from 1000 fps to 1400 fps for self defense. One important item is you need to purchase a bullet seater that will not smash the lead tip. I have a hornady AP and purchased their "cowboy" seater for 357 and these will seat 99% of these bullets without distorting the tip. Other than that, these reload without problems and are pretty accurate. I'm using these on a new SW 686 plus 5" TALOS that I'm breaking in. Experimenting with different COL, powder charge and getting to 1/2" - 1 1/2" from 20 yards. I have used Winchesters jhp NOTCHED bullets for my .40 and .45's and they are very accurate. These 125 grain bullets will do the job for self defense.
