40 V Max in 204R is a staple for colony rodents

In terms of performance and value, the 40 V Max in the 204 Ruger has been a staple for bulk loading to maximize performance. The boat tail angle makes it very easy to place and seat the bullet on a progressive. The performance is on par with the competitive bullets. The best part is the availability. Hornady has done an excellent job keeping the supply going when all those other brands give us stories.

I currently have 6 different 20 cal rifles in 6 different cartridges. This is my standard bullet in all of them. The relatively high BC makes it an idea bullet along with the cost and availability. I can always find this bullet from multiple sources. Five of my rifles have 1:12 twist barrels and one has a 1:11 and this bullet will consistently shoot less than MOA in all of them. I have never pushed this bullet beyond 4000fps (typically 3600-3900fps). My thanks goes out to Hornady for keeping this little gem available when so many other bullets are so difficult to get.

As usual Grafs was great. The Hornady bullets loaded flawlessly in new Winchester brass. No blemishes, mis-shaped tips or other bullet issues. Have not shot them yet. Will buy again based on fidelity and ease of loading if they perform ok.
Very well made

Loading with these bullets is fun. Process went smooth.
Best value for .20 caliber use at extended ranges

I shoot these from an 11 twist .204R & .20P with IMR 8208 at about 3,700 fps. They give good expansion on small rodents. With relatively small powder charges (just under 275 rounds per pound of IMR8208 with the .20P) and the lower price of light bullets, like 40 grains, they are economical. I have shot outstandingly good groups @ 300 yards under less than good conditions with both .20P & .204R. With a good supply of these bullets and lots of low cost reformed .223 brass a .20 Practical will provide many rounds of low cost but high performance shooting sometimes at more than 400 yards. I did run into a lot of bullets that gave less than expected expansion but apparently that was limited to just that lot. Last use of them on rodents was back on track.

This small bullet is the perrrrrrfect compliment for your 204 Ruger and 20 Tactical. Of course it is very important to marry the correct velocity, barrel twist and powder selection to drive these bullets to their intended target. 204 and Tactical seem to function best (for my application) using this recipe xx.x gr. / xx.x gr. H335 BR4 respectively. (3700/3800 fps).
