HORNADY 38c(.357)158gr FP XTP BULLET FlatPt 100/BX
Product Information
Designed for hunting, self-defense and law enforcement applications, the XTP® bullet demonstrates the kind of accuracy that led many competitive shooters to adopt it. Reliable performance makes the XTP® the most popular handgun bullet for both target shooters and hunters. But it's the stopping power of the XTP® bullet that has truly built its world-class reputation. From the onset, XTP® bullets were specifically designed to expand reliably at a wide range of handgun velocities to deliver deep penetration with every shot.
- CONTROLLED EXPANSION: Precise serrations divide the XTP® into symmetrical sections, strategically weakening the jacket and initiating controlled expansion even at low velocities.
- NO EXPOSED LEAD: The gilding metal jacket protects the nose of the bullet, so the hollow cavity functions properly on impact and ensures proper feeding in semi-automatics.
- SWAGED CORE: Total uniformity of core density ensures balanced expansion as well as in-flight stability.
- DRAWN GILDING METAL JACKET: Expansion is controlled by varying jacket thickness down the length of the XTP®, providing a definite advantage over plated bullets which have a uniform jacket thickness over the entire bullet.
- CANNELURE: On revolver bullets, the cannelure helps achieve accurate, consistent crimping. All cannelures are applied before the final forming process to eliminate any distortion to the finished bullet.
This is not loaded ammunition.

HORNADY 38c(.357)158gr FP XTP BULLET FlatPt

The 158 grain XTP Hornady XTP flat point bullets are for my 4" .357 mag revolver. I wanted a bullet that would provide more penetration than my usual high velocity Hornady .357 caliber 125 HP XTP loads.
The Hornady 158 XTP bullets show perfect uniformity & finish.
I plan to load the 158 XTP flat point bullets with A #9 powder & PPU .357 Mag brass. I used these 158's in my scope sighted 6" S&W L frame with great results at up to 50 yards.

This is the standard bullet for my farm load. It performs well in both revolver and rifle. They are consistent box to box in diameter and weight. The flat point makes them ideal for use in lever guns with a tubular magazine. The normal quality you expect from Hornady.

If I'm hand loading jacketed bullets, 99% of the time they are Hornady bullets. Reliable quality box to box and excellent terminal performance.

I'm running them in a marlin 357 rifle. They shoot really good. I'm pushing them around 1650 fps with no problems.

I have shot just about every name brand jacketed pistol bullet on the market and I think Hornady XTP bullets are as good as any and better than most. I have seen jacket/core separation multiple times on one brand that cost a lot more than Hornady. There are other great bullets on the market as well but, Hornady is right at the top.

Living in Calif. finding quality ammunition is not going to be easy. You will get the left overs of what others do not really want or empty shelves. That is why I reload. Reloaders can try a variety of bullets, if you can find them in Calif.. Graf and sons have good quality hornady hp/xtp bullets. They will do their job if you do yours.
