Product Information

Features Hornady’s legendary XTP bullets that are famous for the ability to expand reliably across a wide range of velocities. They consistently deliver the deep, terminal penetration needed for one-shot kills. The XTP is one of the most accurate pistol bullets ever made, and it’s just as accurate in your muzzleloader. The plastic sabot protects the bullet as it travels through the barrel and engages the rifling, then falls away after exiting your rifle. This is not loaded ammunition.

Good value easy button

By Ryan J. on Nov 28, 2025
These are a good value for the occasional ML hunter. A proven bullet and a good sabot. Got good accuracy, and decent performance on 2 antlerless deer harvested last year. I found the bullet a little "soft," failing to pass through a large doe at close range with a max load, and have since switched to a harvester crush rib sabot and the .300 GR XTP and 240 GR Deep Curl for the wife's gun.

Hornady 50 Cal. 240 Gr. XTP Sabot

By Michael L. on May 13, 2018
I've found these a little less accurate at 100 yards than the poly-tipped bullets in black powder rifles but I've also found that the poly-tipped sabot bullets tend to act like a FMJ bullet and can shoot clear thru the deer without expanding which leads to hard to track or lost deer. When you hit a deer in a vital area using the 240 Gr. XTP bullet, the bullet expands well and the deer either drop on the spot or just run a few yards before dropping.
