I don't pledge allegiance to any particular brand of headspace gauge. I do, however, tip my hat to the folks at Wilson Reloading Tools for this little gem! It has proven to be an indispensable aid in producing consistent, smooth-feeding ammunition for me.
Proper fitting ammo is important, no matter the launching platform. It's especially important in my AR. This gauge works as a convenient plunk test "chamber" to ensure that headspace is correct while simultaneously (if headspace is correct) checking for the necessity of trimming.
This gauge works and will save you a lot of time and grief. Nobody wants to invest their (irretrievable) time and (expensive) components in non-functioning ammunition. Wilson's headspace gauge allows you to skip the false hope afforded by "iffy" ammo and the headache of having to break it down for component retrieval. This is, in my humble opinion, an essential piece of handloading equipment!
