Due to the packaging and shipping process, case necks are often slightly dinged or bent and need to be rounded up and sized to give proper neck tension. New and/or fired cases must be full-length resized or have the expander ball of the sizing die run through the case neck prior to loading.

Product Information

With Hornady brass you’ll get more reloads, greater consistency, predictable performance and accuracy that commodity brass simply can’t deliver. Hornady measures for consistent wall concentricity and they run their cases through pressure calibration tests to ensure uniform case expansion. And each and every case is hand inspected. New, unprimed brass.

This is not loaded ammunition.

Hornady 7mm WSM brass

Maybe over time complicity starts to creep into the manufacturing process. The inside neck diameter, even after I 'M' died to normalize this diameter, was really tight at the neck to shoulder junction. So tight it deformed the bullet. Tried powdered mica without much help. I had to open the neck to .308 and resize the neck with the FL die. This helped, however who needs to do all this work on NEW brass. And of course, the recommended trim length 2.090" had to be reduced. About 80% trimmed to 2.086". The rest had to be trimmed to 2.084". Even at this dimension many did not clean up to 100%. Otherwise Hornady does a fair job, but was better a year ago. What changed.

Hornady's brass is right to size. A top quality product.
The only step I do is to prepare the neck of the case with a Lyman "M" die. (This opens the neck to .001 larger than the bullet for about 1/16" deep. The inner part of the neck is sized to a good press fit for jacketed bullets.)

Arrived on time as always from here. The brass is typical Hornady brass and puts my rifle back out on the range.
