Product Information

The 6.5mm/.264 inch bore has recently enjoyed a resurgence of interest. Several rifle manufacturers currently produce 6.5x55mm sporters, exposing a new generation of shooters to this famous old Scandinavian service and hunting cartridge. Competitive HighPower and Silhouette shooters have also shown great interest in the 6.5mm bore size.

The 120 grain #1725 bullet is designed for BenchRest and HighPower competitions to 600 yards in medium capacity 6.5mm rifle cartridges. In handguns, the 120 grain #1725 MatchKing® bullet has been very successful on the silhouette range and has proven itself on other targets. Because of its high ballistic coefficient, it delivers high momentum downrange and has low sensitivity to crosswinds. It has been the choice of handgun shooters worldwide.

While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications.  Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts.

This is not loaded ammunition.

Accuracy Superb

By Christopher R. on Dec 17, 2022
I have several Grendel’s and Creedmoor’s. I’ve tried bullets from Sierra, Barnes, Hornady, Berger and a few boutique brands, searching for best accuracy to 600yd in an AR15/10 platform. These 120gn SMKs are consistently the best performers. With good case prep, and the right load I see velocity deviations under 5fps for 10 shots. They are predictable in the wind, capable of 1 hole accuracy in the right barrel with the right shooter.
There is batch to batch base to ogive variation, so recheck your seating depth each box. The meplats are often a bit rough, but I’ve not found trimming/pointing to be worth the effort.
The 123gn SMK doesn’t shoot as well as this 120gn in my guns. They have different profiles.
Give them a try!

Most consistent round I've found across multiple 6.5 Grendels

I load for 4 different Grendels and I've found this SMK 120 to be the most consistent. I haven't tested everything, but I'm pretty sure there isn't a better target round out there for the price/performance.

Very accurate.

I load these for a friends 6.5 CM, he shoots 1/4 MOA on a regular basis at 300 yds. Also load them in my 6.5x47, lights out!!

Sierra 6.5 creedmoor 120 gr HPBT

Best bullet for my Savage LPR 12
Load with H4350, 43 gr. In Lapua brass and seat .010 off the lands. Three round groups at .50 inches or less at 100 yards. Tried other bullets but always came back to these. I have fired at least 1500 rounds of these bullets.
