Due to the packaging and shipping process, case necks are often slightly dinged or bent and need to be rounded up and sized to give proper neck tension. New and/or fired cases must be full-length resized or have the expander ball of the sizing die run through the case neck prior to loading.

Bertram 43 Mauser

By Peter H. on May 26, 2020
Good brass one question I asked Bertram about got no answer after running thru the expander to get them ready for the bullets the necks became oval old cil cases stayed round cases shoot ok just made it hard to insert bullets at that price don’t want to ruin any brass . Not just one box they all did this, the anealling process from the factory?

.43 Mauser

I have bought several boxes of this brass and it does not disappoint. All have arrived damage free. I anneal after three to five reloads, neck size only, and my cases have survived 20+ reloads and are still going. This is in a variety of Mauser 71 and 71/84 rifles, black powder only for me.

11mm Mauser brass cases

The cases are well-formed, load and fire fine. However, there is no head stamp (there used to be) and the overall finish is rather dirty.

.43 Mauser Brass

This brass is very nicely made and performed wonderfully with a 380 gr paper patched bullet on top of Xccs of Fg Goex.
It does not have a headstamp though, which I found odd.
