Works with the plug in device, did not install the batteries it came with. Used rechargeable batteries. Don't trust alkaline stuff. Substantial for my big fingers. Seems very solid. Had some other brand's scale where leaking batteries ruined it. Was also somewhat flimsy.
Hopefully it will last a good while.
