To protect the mallet, I heated a piece of 1 1/4" PVC pipe, and slipped it over the end.
This worked out great.
I also use it with my Lee hand loaders for knocking out primers, seating bullets,etc.
Great product.
The PVC pipe adds a little more weight, and the plastic pipe take more abuse without being damaged, but does not damage my reloading equipment.
