Been reloading for years and recently purchased the anvil base ,I should have got this years ago! It gives me an accurate measurement whether I’m using it with the bullet comparator ,headspace comp, or just OAL. I have a couple now that I keep attached to my calipers.

These are decent quality for the price and pretty much the only affordable alternative. They're a must for precision reloading, and make the bullet comparator much easier to use.

Must have this, makes for more consistent placement of the case head on a larger surface vs the caliper. More consistent placement of the casing shoulder is the result.... better repeatability.

The anvil is almost essential when using any of the comparators. it is much easier taking measurements when the base is on a stable platform. The setscrews provide to space the anvil to the micrometer aren't really needed. Just be sure the brass screws on the base and the comparator body face the same direction; alignment is perfect.

It's well made and simple. I'd consider it optional for the Hornady Bullet Comparator if you're one whose looking to conserve funds, but it makes for a more stable platform to place the case head on when taking measurements. I chose to purchase it out of curiosity.

You really need these to get the most accurate measurements using the comparator body. Provides a stable platform for cartridge length measure.
