Hornady Improved Hand Priming Tool
Product Information
The perfect companion to any single stage press...Hornady's new handheld priming tool features a new one-piece primer try with an improved retaining system for the lid. It also sports integral molded bushings for ultra reliable function. The new primer tray also eliminates the need for separate primer bushings. The system comes with an additional tray designed for use with RCBS shell holders. The body has been modified for easier change-over. The seater punch and spring are captured inside the priming tool; allowing shell holders and primer trays to be changed without removing the spring and punch.

Good tool
By Don B. on Oct 18, 20221) my other hand primer won't allow a 7mm SAUM case to fit. This one has no problem because it uses the shell holder used in your reloading press. It had two different primer holders, one for Hornady shell holders, the other for RCBS. Well marked with different colors, black for Hornady and green for RCBS. Don't know if it will fit others. I have both shell holders. A little cumbersome to change between large and small or different shell holders compared to my other one.
2) LOOK at the plunger. It was turned on a lathe and both large and small had a very small point left on it. I smoothed it off on a whetstone and polished it flat. That to me was an important step the do at the factory. Others I have are cut not turned. I want that primer to look like it does in the box it came in when seated.
3) it snaps past center to ensure a positive seat. It is right at the point where in the primer pockets, Lapua brass 260 Rem., however it doesn't allow me to feel the bottom with 9 1/2 remington primers and flattens the primer somewhat. I prefer to be able to feel it bottom out. It may work well with other primers and different primer pocket depths. I have never had an issue with having to think about this with my other priming tool.
5) all in all, a good tool and does what it is supposed to do. As with everything you have to learn the nuances about it and the variances in the products you use it on.
