What can you say, you could make one, but for the effort, I just bought one that is made to specs, hard to go wrong with this.
Has always worked for me

I have used the Hornady Lock-N-Load Modified Case system since it was Stoney Point. It’s a lot faster and more accurate than the old trial and error system of finding the correct seating depth. In the earlier days I would use a black felt tip pen to mark the bullet and adjust my seater die according to the barrel land marks on the marked bullet ogive. Of course this gauge must be used in conjunction with the Hornady Bullet Seating Gauge(s). It’s more accurate than other methods because it measures off of the bullet ogive instead of the bullet tip. There are more inconsistencies and variations in bullet tips than on the ogives.
