.45-70 405 Grain RNFP – Hi-Tek Coated

The Classic Load—Made Even Better

ACME's 405 grain Round Nose Flat Point (RNFP) is a true .45-70 workhorse. This is the bullet that built the legend, now cast with precision and coated in ACME’s red Hi-Tek Supercoat for modern performance. Sized to .458″, it feeds smoothly, hits hard, and runs clean—whether you’re ringing steel, hunting big game, or shooting black powder-era rifles.

Reliable, accurate, and historically proven—this is the go-to bullet for serious .45-70 shooters.

This is not loaded ammunition.

Great for Trapdoor smokeless loads

By Matthew H. on Feb 03, 2024
I used the published Hodgdon data for H4895 powder, and got great results in my 1888 Trapdoor rifle. These loaded easily and shot great with no leading at all. The look may be a bit non-traditional, but the results are worth it.

Great bullets! Loaded for trapdoor with smokeless load and works great.

Nice bullets!

I've been using these to work up a subsonic 45-70 load from my suppressed Marlin. So far so good, seem fairly accurate and are working well so far.

Rolling Block Load

By Anthony W. on Oct 15, 2020
I ordered these in 45-70 0.580 diameter for my 1871 Remington Rolling Block. The coated bullets are much cleaner to load and they produce less lead buildup in the barrel. Bore cleaning time is reduced with these coated bullets vs. uncoated lead cast bullets. The two boxes of bullets I received averaged 405 grains with a spread from 403.5 gr to 406.5 gr. I have only shot 30 rounds, but they did group nicely at 100 yards. I didn’t sort loads by weight.

Shoots great!

Loads well in my 45-70 over XBR smokeless powder. The laser cut wood box is always a nice touch for storage.

Trapdoor loads

I've used these for a bit for some smokeless loads for my trapdoor with no issues. I may try some blackpowder loads, we'll see.

Inconsistent weights

By Ranceford O. on Apr 30, 2019
weighed these bullets and they varied from 399 grains to 406 grains, the majority being 403 grains.
Shooting only the 403-grainers with xx grains of Trail Boss from an 1874 45-70 Sharps I got a 3" 6-shot group at 100 yards.
