Fragmenting Bullets

By Dennis G F. on Feb 04, 2019
Precision Cartridge has loaded over 5,000 rounds of 460 S&W Magnum with no problems what so ever, I cannot understand why this occurrence took place as we have used the Berry's 250 grain bullet for many years, if possible I would appreciate if Gary H would return to us the unfired rounds as I would like to send them to Berry's and have them analyze the projectiles to ascertain if it is a plating problem, also a call to my shop would be greatly appreciated so we can obtain further information as to what caused this problem. The shop number is listed on the ammunition box.

Would not recommend

PCI has made good loads that I've used but this is not one of them. Bullet used is inappropriate for the load; out of the V460 5" I had jacket separation right out of the barrel. Hitting a paper target at 7 meters I was getting multiple impacts as the bullet fragmented in flight. I was anything but "precision". Cartridges also fouled my handgun more then I was expecting after so few rounds (10). This is the first .460 load I've fired so take that with a grain of salt but I would be surprised if that was normal.
