Hornady® FTX® bullets revolutionized lever gun ballistics, creating a new level of performance for these popular firearms. Lever gun enthusiasts can now harness the accuracy, power and long-range performance of a tipped bullet that's safe to load in tubular magazines.

Hornady® offers the same Flex Tip® technology for handguns that revolutionized lever guns. Typical hollow point pistol bullets deliver good performance at modest velocities, but have a tendency to expand too quickly and sacrifice penetration at the higher velocities achieved with lever action guns.

  • PATENTED FLEX TIP® BULLET TECHNOLOGY:  Upon impact, the soft tip compresses into the bullet, initiating immediate expansion across a wide range of velocities. Safe to shoot in tubular magazines as well as any other firearm.

Bought these to break in the barrel on my 450BM. I’m getting decent accuracy with them but I’m having to reduce powder charge to get it. All in all good bullet it’s doing what I need to do and Graf and Sons has good prices and shipping is fast.

This bullet is rated up to 2100 fps so I use it in my Smith & Wesson .460 S & W magnum XVR with the 14" barrel. Loaded 1.5 grs. below maximum for Win. 296... and large rifle magnum primers. Revolver is scoped with a Crimson Trace Brush/Line pro BDC 2.5-8 power. 50 yds groups 1.5 " avg for 5 shots... 100 yds 2.120 " avg for 5 shots. I get the same results with the 200 gr FTX I'm going to try this @ 200 yds. at my other gun club that has this range.

You can't go wrong with a Hornady bullet. Works well in my 450 Bushmaster & I'm going to try it in my Marlin lever gun.

Was skeptical because l felt light for caliber and lower sectional density. However, they shoot well and long range performance was impressive. Iowa 3.5 year 10 point 250 yrds. Broke on side shoulder. Mushroom bullet under offside hide. Buck stumbled 10 yrds. Bullet drop for my set up zeroed at 100yrds was approximately 10-12”. I was pleased with its performance.

Accurate and good predator bullet for coyote. But remember to keep the FPS down . Works well in my wife,s AR. Also accurate in my Ruger American.

Hands down the best bullet in this caliber for long range

I bought these initially for my Ruger Blackhawk chambered in .45 Colt and was able to get excellent accuracy with them, sub 2" groups @ 25 yards, and I intended to hunt deer with them.
Sadly, I discovered that my limitations with my revolver would not allow me to take a deer, so I have now bought a Marlin 1894 in the same caliber, and I can happily say that I can put five inside a single ragged hole @ 50 yards.
I'm no longer worried about being able to get a deer now.
These will extend my range up to about a realistic 125 yards, something previously unheard of with a .45 Colt handgun or rifle.
The key is that wonderful soft plastic point that greatly improves the ballistic coefficient.
With conventional hollowpoints from a rifle, about the best you could realistically expect to do would be 75 yards, but these nearly doubles that.
Excellent bullets!
